AWS Opens Office in Myanmar

1 July 2013

SINGAPORE - July 1st 2013 - AWS has opened its first office in Yangon, Myanmar as part of its expansion plan for Indochina region. With experience gained in Cambodia, AWS feels that its vast expertise in information and communications technology (ICT) and Energy Efficiency for Buildings will be well received in Myanmar, which has undergone rapid economic growth in recent years.

AWS is running the new Myanmar operation from its Singapore headquarters and is confident of strong demand, said Mr Roger Ang, Director of AWS Group. “The fact that we opened our office even before the new legal framework is certain speaks volume about our confidence in the market potential and leadership of Myanmar”.

“So far we have seen demand from local, regional and multinational clients. We have already chalked up sales and have been invited to participate in several large tenders. We hope our presence in Myanmar can contribute to the development and adoption of High Performance Building and promote good business practice,” Mr Roger Ang added.

AWS’s more than 20 years of experience in enabling Asia’s communications infrastructure has set a strong foundation to meet the country’s technological progress.

“There is tremendous growth potential in Myanmar and this is an opportune moment for AWS to contribute to the country’s infrastructural needs. Myanmar can learn from the experiences of its Asian neighbours and leapfrog into first-world infrastructure” said Mr Roger Ang.

From its new office at Seitkanthar (Lwiss) Street, the company will focus on proven solutions with track record of successes in Asia. The Yangon office opened with a small team but more will be added, with flexibility to draw on AWS operations in regional offices.
